The Gujarat State Football Association (GSFA) officially kicked off the AFC U-17 Qualifiers on 22 November, bringing an important phase of Asian youth football to Ahmedabad. The tournament features five participating nations — Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, Chinese Taipei, and India, the host nation — competing in a round-robin format that spans five matchdays: 22, 24, 26, 28, and 30 November.

The qualifiers mark a significant milestone for GSFA, as hosting responsibilities include full coordination of match operations, team logistics, training facilities, broadcasting requirements, and spectator management. The event also represents a major opportunity for India’s youth team to test themselves against strong opponents from West and East Asia. Iran enters the competition as one of the group favourites, while Lebanon, Palestine, and Chinese Taipei bring diverse tactical strengths that make the group highly competitive.

Each team will face every other team once, with matches distributed evenly across the five scheduled dates. The cumulative points at the end of the final matchday on 30 November will determine which nation progresses from the group. With only one qualifying spot available, consistency, endurance, and strategic depth will be crucial factors throughout the tightly packed schedule.

The tournament has also drawn attention for its organisational scale. GSFA, working in alignment with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), has implemented international-standard arrangements across the venue, ensuring professional-level infrastructure for players, officials, and supporters.

As the competition unfolds, local football enthusiasts and national followers alike are expected to witness high-intensity matches that highlight the next generation of Asian football talent. The AFC U-17 Qualifiers continue through 30 November, promising a week of compelling performances in Ahmedabad.
